Person and Donnelly Receive NSCAA All-Region Honors

KANSAS CITY, Kan.- The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) released their 2013 NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Women's All-New England Region teams on Tuesday and two Endicott players received the annual honors.  Sarah Person (Holden, Mass.) and Katie Donnelly (Madison, Conn.) both received the honors for the first time in their collegiate careers.  The awards bring the total NSCAA All-Region honors to 15 all time for Endicott women's soccer program.

Person, a senior who has also received Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year, First Team All-CCC honors and was named to the NEWISA Senior Bowl, was named NSCAA Second Team All-New England.  She completed her four years in the Blue and Green as part of a class that posted an impressive 59-26-8 record overall and an even more impressive 32-7-1 record in CCC play.  The defender was part of a unit that allowed just 17 goals in 24 matches in 2013 for a miniscule 0.71 goals against average.  The defensive unit bested that number as they allowed just four goals in their conference matches for an average of 0.44 goals against per match.

Donnelly, a junior who was also named First Team All-CCC as a goal keeper, was named NSCAA Third Team All-New England.  The keeper earned 15 of the team's 16 wins in 2013 while allowing just 0.70 goals against on the season.  Donnelly also posted nine shutouts this season, running her career total to 23 in her three seasons at the helm, which puts her in third place all time in Endicott history.  Her 94 saves on the season tie her with current Endicott assistant coach Tina Loguidice '07 for ninth on the all-time single season saves list.

Person, Donnelly and the rest of the team were able to bring home the CCC Championship after defeating cross-town rival Gordon on penalty kicks.  The championship was the team's first since 2009 and is the ninth in program history and is the sixth title in the last ten years.  The Gulls then advanced to the NCAA tournament where they defeated Scranton 1-0 before falling to Middlebury by a 2-1 score.
