Moody and Person Receive CCC Honors After Helping Team Claim Title

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- After playing pivotal roles in helping the Endicott women's soccer team claim the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) title, seniors Heather Moody (Dunstable, Mass.) and Sarah Person (Holden, Mass.) have been named CCC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week respectively.  The Gulls now await the reveal of their NCAA tournament opponent which will be released today at 1:30 p.m.

Moody, who was named CCC Offensive Player of the Week, put the Gulls into the CCC final after notching her second goal of the season in the team's semifinal win over Wentworth.  Moody's goal came towards the end of the first overtime period with just 20 seconds left on the clock.  With the top seeded Gulls tied 0-0 against the fifth seeded Leopards, Moody received the feed in the box and with a diving attempt, beat the Wentworth keeper to give Endicott the vicotry.  The goal was Moody's first game winner of the season.

Person, who was named CCC Defensive Player of the Week, led the Endicott defensive unit in back-to-back dominant performances while also converting on the penalty kick that put the Gulls into the NCAA tournament over Gordon.  In the two matches, both shutouts, Person and the defense limited their opponent's offensive opportunites.  With both opponents averaging two goals per game or more, the back line for the Gulls rose to the occaision and dominated.  The 2013 CCC Senior Scholar-Athlete helped limit Wentworth to three shots on goal and just 12 shots total.  In the title match, Person and the defensive unit continued to dominate as they held the Fighting Scots only four shots on goal over 110 minutes of play. The defender would then convert the game-winning penalty kick to give the Gulls their ninth CCC title.

Moody, Person and the rest of the Gulls now await to find out who they will face in the NCAA DIII Women's Soccer tournament.
