Women's Lacrosse Takes Down No. 16 Trinity, 11-10

HARTFORD, Conn. — The Endicott women's lacrosse team defeated, No. 16 nationally ranked Trinity College, 11-10, on Wednesday evening at Robin L. Sheppard field. 

In what was a back and forth contest throughout, the Gulls found themselves down, 9-8 with just under 13 minutes remaining in the contest. 

Endicott would not go quietly, however, as they scored three goals in under two minutes to earn an 11-9 lead with 9:46 remaining. 

The Blue and Green then locked down defensively, over the final 9:46 only allowing one goal to secure the victory. 

Both Gabriella Prisco (West Haven, Conn.), and Maya Feigenbaum (West Hartford, Conn.) led the way offensively for the Gulls, as they each scored three goals and notched one assist. Morgan Pike (Shapleigh, Maine) closely followed with two goals and one assist. 

In net, Alexandra Rose (East Lyme, Conn.) made nine saves to improve to 2-0 on the season. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE 

  • This is the first win for Endicott over a ranked opponent since they defeated No. 13 Bates 11-10 on March 19, 2014.
  • Tonight is the Gulls' third overall win over a ranked opponent (3/19/14 11-10  over No. 13 Bates | 3/10/11  17-16 over No. 8 Babson)
  • In the contest, the Gulls found themselves holding a, 7-5 lead before Trinity scored three straight to make it 8-7, The Gulls then tied it 8-8, Trinity then scored to make it 9-8 before the Gulls fought back once again. 
  • Also on the scoresheet, tonight for Endicott was Kiana Napolitano (Revere, Mass.) (1G, 1A), Katy Garvin (Mansfield, Mass.) (1G, 1A), Katie Wagner (Brewster, N.Y.) (1G), Mollie Manning (Hull, Mass.) (2A), and Katie Schenk (Southbury, Conn.) (1A).
  • Napolitano, Pike, and Feigenbaum, each scored during the Gulls three-goal outburst in the second half. 
  • In total, the contest had six lead changes and five ties. 
  • No team had a lead over three goals in the contest. 

WHAT'S NEXT 

Endicott (2-0) will host St. Lawrence in their home opener on Friday, March 6 at 4 PM. Trinity (1-1) will host Bates on Saturday, March 7 at 12 PM.
