Lacolla, Wright earned NFCA All-New England accolades

Freshman first baseman Jennie Lacolla (Stoneham, Mass.) and senior outfielder Ashley Wright (Merrimack, N.H.) were both recognized by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) by being named to the All-New England team for their outstanding play on the field for the 2011 season. 

Lacolla, already named the TCCC Player and Rookie of the Year, was honored as a First Team All-New England At-Large selection after batting .451 with 52 runs scored and 44 RBI. Her .557 on-base percentage was among the nation’s leaders in Division III thanks in part to 55 hits, 22 if which were for extra bases, and a team-high 33 walks. She also had a .770 slugging percentage after knocking 13 doubles, eight homeruns and a triple in her rookie campaign. 

Lacolla, who spent the majority of her playing time at first base where she had a .991 fielding percentage, also contributed in the circle with six appearances. She started five games resulting in a 4-1 record. With her First Team honors, she is now eligible for All-American status.

A Second Team All-New England Outfielder, Wright, one of the team’s three captains, patrolled centerfield for the Gulls in 2011 where she tallied 14 assists. Wright started all 44 games for Endicott and had a career year batting .403 with 45 runs scored, 34 RBI, and 15 stolen bases. She tied for a team-high with 15 doubles, had two triples and three homeruns. Wright poured it on during the TCCC playoffs, batting .750 with six runs, five RBI, three doubles and a stolen base as Endicott rolled to their ninth straight conference championship.
