Lacolla, Bortolotti highlight eight All-TCCC selections from softball
Springfield, Mass. – Freshman Jennie Lacolla (Stoneham, Mass.) was named The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) rookie and player of the year while senior Jenna Bortolotti (Milton, Mass.) garnered Pitcher of the Year honors for the second straight season, it was announced today by Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye. Lacolla and Bortolotti joined three other Gulls on the All-Conference First Team.

Senior centerfielder Ashley Wright (Merrimack, N.H.) broke through with a First Team selection after back-to-back seasons on the Second Team. Sophomore Jocelyn Russo (Middletown, Conn.) joins Wright with her first All-Conference selection while freshman Jesse Bilafer (Concord, Mass.) garnered First Team honors in her inaugural season with the Blue and Green.

Sophomore catcher Krista Fales (Melrose, Mass.) earned Second Team accolades one year after being named the TCCC Rookie of the Year while freshman Mattie Brett (Waterford, Conn.) and senior Hayley Hovhanessian (Farmington, Conn.) each earned Honorable Mention nods.

Lacolla made an immediate impact in her first season with the Gulls, leading the league in batting average (.536), slugging percentage (1.000), on-base percentage (.630), runs scored (39), total bases (69), and walks (21) in conference-only play. She also ranked second in hits (37) and RBI (27), while ranking third in homeruns with seven. The standout freshman was an instrumental part of the Gulls’ 23-1 conference record, helping them secure the \#1 seed in the TCCC tournament.

Bortolotti continued her dominant reign in the circle, leading the conference with a perfect 11-0 record. In addition to leading the league in wins, Bortolotti also ranked first in the way of ERA (1.03), shutouts (6), and opponent’s batting average (.200). The two-time pitcher of the year’s consistency helped the Blue and Green grab the top seed in the TCCC tournament and post an overall regular-season record of 32-6. On Tuesday afternoon, Bortolotti earned her school-record 61st career win, eclipsing the previous mark held by Robyn Savitske ‘07.

Wright started in all 24 conference games this season and finished second on the team in hits (34), average (.500), runs (30), and doubles (10). She was equally impressive in centerfield where she made 45 putouts and boasted a .979 fielding percentage.

Russo hit .346 in the TCCC, scoring 26 runs on 27 hits and clubbing nine doubles in her second year with the Blue and Green.   Bilafer made a seamless transition to the college game, scoring 20 runs and driving in 20 more while batting .429 in her freshman campaign.

Fales hit .459 with 11 runs scored and 11 RBI as a sophomore. She added 64 putouts and eight assists without registering a single error behind the plate.

Brett played and started in all 24 conference games, hitting .431 with 24 runs, 20 RBIs, and three homeruns en route to an honorable mention selection.

Hovhanessian earned an Honorable Mention selection for the second time in her career. In her final year with the Gulls, she hit .400 with 29 runs scored and 23 RBIs.

Endicott continues its pursuit of a ninth straight TCCC Championship as the conference’s top seed in the tournament.
