Springfield, Mass. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) selected Endicott softball to win their ninth conference championship in-a-row as voted on by the league's head coaches. The preseason poll was announced by Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye.
Endicott received 10 first place votes and 165 points overall in the ranking.
Endicott is coming off a 28-12-1 season, their 12th straight year with at least 20 wins. The Gulls compiled a 18-5-1 mark in-conference play and defeated Anna Maria, University of New England and Western New England College in the TCCC Tournament en route to their 12th conference championship in program history.
The Blue and Green went on to the NCAA Tourament, but lost to Brandeis and Salem State in the regional tournament.
Under Head Coach Mark Veiulleux, winner of 448 games in his Endicott coaching career, the Gulls appear poised to make another run at a TCCC crown in 2011.
Rounding out the top five in the preseason poll are Western New England College (149), University of New England (141), Curry (119) and Anna Maria (115). Western New England and University of New England each received a first place vote while Salve Regina (99) who finished in seventh, received the final first place vote.
