SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) announced today that the Endicott men’s basketball has been selected by the league’s head coaches to be 2011-12 conference champions after receiving eight of a possible 10 first place votes.
Behind Endicott (98) in the CCC Men’s Basketball Preseason Poll are defending champs Salve Regina (75), Wentworth (74), Roger Williams (73), Gordon (58), Curry (55), Eastern Nazarene (40), Nichols (40), University of New England (21), and Western New England (16). Wentworth, who appeared in the CCC Championship last season, is the only other program to earn first place votes.
Coming off a 17-10 season, third-year head coach Phil Rowe has his team’s sights set on their sixth conference championship and their first since the 2005-06 season. The Gulls return most of their starting lineup, several key bench players and welcome a freshman class expected to make significant contributions on the court this season.
The Gulls begin their 2011-12 campaign at home on Tuesday against the College of Saint Joseph (VT). Tip-off is at 7:00 pm at MacDonald Gymnasium.
