NORTON, Mass. – In the 2018 season opener for both programs on Friday afternoon, the Endicott field hockey team defeated Wheaton (Mass.) by a 6-0 score at Nordin Field.
Lily Smith (Middlebury, Vt.) and Kristen McCarthy (Danvers, Mass.) potted one goal each in the first half at 13:11 and 21:02, respectively, as Endicott went into the half up 2-0.
Meanwhile, in the second stanza, Julie Champigny (Acton, Mass.), Jaylin Grabau (Lynnfield, Mass.), Sydney Poulin (Watertown, Mass.) and Emily Graham (Westford, Mass.) all buried solo tallies (43:43 | 45:47 | 54:11 | 61:43) to account for the remainder of the scoring in the contest.
Taylor Farrin (Danvers, Mass.) also made eight saves in net to record her fifth career shutout.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Endicott improved to 7-4 in the all-time series versus Wheaton with today's victory.
- The Gulls have won the last five meetings between the two teams.
- Endicott has outscored the Lyons, 20-5, in the last five outings.
- McCarthy dished out a career-high three assists.

Endicott (1-0) travels to No. 7 nationally ranked Babson on Saturday, September 1 at 6 PM. Wheaton (0-1) visits Western New England on Sunday, September 2 at 12 PM.
