Brennan Mashes Walk-Off Homer To Lift Endicott Past Stevens, 9-8

BEVERLY, Mass. – Tied 8-8 in the bottom of the ninth inning, Endicott junior first baseman Kyle Brennan (Wallingford, Conn.) turned on a belt-high breaking ball and sent it well over the right field fence to walk off against Stevens, 9-8, on Sunday evening at North Field.

Brennan finished the game 2-for-2 at the plate with two runs scored, one RBI, and two walks. Meanwhile, the walk-off home run was the first of Brennan's career and his sixth career home run overall (second this season, four as a freshman).

Joseph Brown (Poultney, Vt.) was credited with the win (1-0) via 3 1/3 innings pitched out of the bullpen. Brown allowed one hit, one run (earned), zero walks, and struck out a game-high five batters.

Anthony Pron (Mullica Hill, N.J.) suffered the loss on 1 1/3 innings, two hits, one run (earned), and a free pass.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott improved to 2-0 all-time against Stevens.
  • Both games in the series have been played in Beverly (3-2, 3/4/18 | 9-8, 3/1/2020).
  • Trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the third inning, the Gulls rallied for a five-run frame to take the lead. Overall this season, Endicott has outscored opponents 8-1 in the third inning.
  • The Gulls also trailed 7-5 in the eighth inning, but answered with three runs via RBIs from Anthony Macchia (Ridgefield, Conn.), Matthew McKinley (Hudson, N.H.), and Thomas Barbieri (Cranston, R.I.). Each RBI was the first of the season for all three student-athletes.
  • Endicott is 4-1 in its last five home openers.

Endicott (1-3) hosts Brandeis on Tuesday, March 3 at 3:30 PM. Stevens (3-5) welcomes Stockton to its campus on Wednesday, March 4 at 5 PM.
