Matt Bald runs the bases.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Endicott baseball team lost to No. 3 nationally ranked Trinity (Tex.) University, 13-11, on Sunday evening in the finale of their three-game weekend set.

Cadhan McGahan (Davidson, N.C.) was credited with the win (2-0) on 5 2/3 innings pitched out of the bullpen (4 H, 2 R 1 ER, 3 BB, game-high 7 SO).

Meanwhile, Rian Schwede (Whitman, Mass.) took the loss (0-1) via two innings, six hits, five runs (all earned), and one walk.

After jumping out to a 10-3 lead through six innings of play, Trinity was forced to fend off a furious late-game rally by Endicott, which included a combined eight runs from the seventh inning on, to complete the series sweep.

Highlighting the Gulls offensively were Matt Bald (De Pere, Wisc.), John Duffy (Stratford, Conn.), and Christopher Webster (Ludlow, Mass.). Bald went 3-for-5 and notched one RBI from the leadoff spot, Duffy knocked in two runs with a single in the first to give Endicott a 3-0 advantage at the time, and Webster cranked his first career home run, a two-run shot in eighth (12-6).

  • Ryan Prosser (Holden, Mass.) drew a career-high three walks.
  • Duffy is currently on a three-game hitting streak.
  • Caleb Shpur (East Canaan, Conn.) collected his first career collegiate hit with a pinch-hit single to left-center in the ninth.
  • Justin Wardwell (Westport, Mass.) registered his first collegiate hit (1B), walk, run, RBI, and a stolen base in today's contest.

Endicott (0-3) hosts Stevens on Sunday, March 1 at 12 PM. No. 3 Trinity (7-0) welcomes Babson to its campus for a three-game series from February 28 to March 1.
