Gulls Finish Season with National Ranking

BEVERLY, Mass. – After receiving votes last week, Endicott's baseball program has cracked the national Top 25 rankings for the first time in school history.

Endicott has been ranked 19th in the nation at the conclusion of the 2013 season, according to the final D3Baseball.com poll that was released on Friday morning.

The Gulls (35-14) are the second-highest ranked team from New England, trailing only Southern Maine, who finished the year at #2 after falling to Linfield in the NCAA National championship game.

Endicott received 165 points and is the highest team in the Top 25 that was not ranked a week ago.

Linfield received all 25 first place votes and a total of 625 points.

Wheaton (Mass.) was the only other New England team to crack the Top 25, coming in at #22, while Western New England, Amherst, Eastern Connecticut and Saint Joseph's Maine all received votes.

The Gulls played each team from New England that was ranked or received votes this year except for Eastern Connecticut, and collected victories against all of them, beating Wheaton, Southern Maine and St. Joseph's at the NCAA Division III New England Regional in Harwich, Mass.

Endicott won their first Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) championship since 2006 and reached the championship game of the NCAA Division III New England Regional.

The D3baseball.com Top 25 is voted on by a panel of 25 coaches, sports information directors, and media members from across the country, and is published weekly.
