Sitarz Becomes First Endicott Baseball Player Named Academic All-District

BEVERLY, Mass. – A day after being named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Senior Scholar Athlete, outfielder Colin Sitarz (W. Hartford, Conn.) has been selected to the Division III team of the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District program.

Sitarz, who becomes the first Endicott baseball player to be accorded Capital One Academic All-District honors, is now eligible for consideration for the All-America team, which will be announced later this month.

A graduate student in the Masters of Business Administration concentration, Sitarz sports a 3.87 grade point average. He was listed on the Dean's List for several semesters of his career, and is a member of the Academic Varsity Club at Endicott, which requires students maintain a 3.50 cumulative GPA. Sitarz has completed internships with Athletic Evolution and Ameriprise Financial, while also studying abroad in Madrid, Spain. He was named CCC Academic All-Conference in 2011 and 2012, and capped off his conference recognition with the Senior Scholar Athlete award and a spot on the All-CCC Second Team.

On the field, Sitarz is one of the most accomplished offensive talents to ever wear the Blue and Green. He is the all-time Endicott leader in games started (172) and at-bats (587) and is tied for the program records in runs batted in (138) and triples (13). He has a career batting average of .345, seventh all-time in Endicott history. This season, Sitarz has recorded 39 hits, 28 runs batted in, nine stolen bases, nine doubles, and 31 runs scored, while belting two home runs and two triples.

Sitarz was one of just three outfielders selected from Division III and one of just two players from the CCC to be picked for the team, the other being fellow outfielder Jeff Schult from Western New England.

Sitarz and the Gulls have posted a record of 28-12 this season and earned the #2 seed in the CCC Tournament. They will host Curry College at 3:00 pm this afternoon in an elimination game at North Field.
