Endicott and UMass Boston Battle to 1-1 Draw

BOSTON, Mass. - The Endicott women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw on the road after two overtime periods against UMass Boston on Saturday evening. With the draw, Endicott moves to 1-0-1 on the young season, while UMass Boston moves to 2-0-1.

Junior keeper Jacqueline Ruggiero (Hyde Park, Mass.) had a career night in net, making nine saves on 10 shots on goal to help Endicott earn the draw.

The Gulls got on the board when Lindsey Papa (Tolland, Conn.) notched her second career goal for the Blue and Green. Her tally came in the 80th minute off a feed from Gillian Magnier (Shelburne, Vt.), which helped the Gulls equal the score at 1-1. The assist was the first career point for Magnier, and capped the scoring for both squads for the night.

UMass Boston got out to a quick start, notching six shots on goal to Endicott's two, but the two squads would end the first 45 minutes of play in a scoreless tie. The Gulls and Beacons would both register six total shots in the second half, which saw the lone strikes from each team. Heading into extra time, UMass Boston attempted four shots in the first overtime period, only one of which was on goal, while the Gulls countered with two in the second overtime period/
