Lederman, Caponigro and Rischitelli Named to United Soccer Coaches All-Region Teams

ENDICOTT ALL-REGION HISTORY

BEVERLY, Mass. - Endicott's Hannah Lederman (Natick, Mass.)Jaymie Caponigro (Swampscott, Mass.) and Riley Rischitelli (North Brookfield, Mass.) have beeen named to the United Soccer Coaches 2021 NCAA DIII Women's All-Region teams, as announced by the organization earlier today. Lederman garnered First Team honors in Region II, while Caponigro and Rischitelli received Third Team honors.

The three honors tie a program-best mark for a single season from the United Soccer Coaches (formerly NSCAA), which had previously been set in 2010 when Kayla Corbett '11Colleen Pepin '12, and Caitlin Peters '13 all garnered Second Team nods.

HANNAH LEDERMAN | UNITED SOCCER COACHES FIRST TEAM ALL-REGION

Following a 2021 season in which she was named Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Defensive Player of the Year, Lederman was named United Soccer Coaches First Team All-Region for Region II for the first time in her distinguished career. A constant presence on the Endicott back line, Lederman started in all 17 matches for the Blue and Green this year, and finished have started in all 50 matches she competed in during her four years at the Nest. The Natick, Mass. native was at the core of a defensive unit that allowed just four goals against in nine CCC matches for a league-leading .44 goals against/match, and 14 overall in 19 matches throughout the year, good for a .798 goals against/match, the 77th best mark of all NCAA DIII programs. Lederman and the other members of the back line held opponents to 76 shots all year in conference play, as the Gulls recorded nine shutouts on the season. With her First Team All-Region nod, Lederman joins Caitlin Peters '13, and Sarah Miller '09, as the only backs to earn First Team United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors in program history.


JAYMIE CAPONIGRO | UNITED SOCCER COACHES THIRD TEAM ALL-REGION

For the first time in her career at Endicott, Caponigro has received all-region accolades, being named to the United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-Region for Region II in 2021. The midfielder finished tops or as runner-up in every offensive category for the Gulls this fall, finishing tied for the team lead with four assists, while finishing second with her six goals, 16 points, and two game-winning goals. The Swampscott, Mass. native, who played two full seasons for Endicott after transferring in, finished her career having started in all 37 matches in which she played. Caponigro finished her career averaging nearly a point per match, finishing with 35 career points in her 37 matches after recording 14 goals and seven assists. Both of her game-winning goals came against CCC competition, as she claimed the game-winner in the team's 3-0 win over Salve Regina, and in the team's 3-2 win over Western New England. Caponigro becomes the fourth midfielder in program history to earn United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors. 


RILEY RISCHITELLI | UNITED SOCCER COACHES THIRD TEAM ALL-REGION

After being named the CCC Rookie of the Year and All-CCC Second Team after the 2021 season, Riley Rischitelli has added another honor to her impressive freshman campaign, being named to the United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-Region for Region II. Rischitelli finished atop the offensive statistical charts for Endicott this fall, finishing as the team leader in goals (8) and points (18), while tying for the team-lead in assists (4). Of her eight goals, three were game-winners, two of which came against CCC competition in a pair of 1-0 victories, (Wentworth and Suffolk). In Endicott's 3-0 win over Curry in the CCC quarterfinals, the freshman finished with three points after notching a goal and an assist. With her Third Team nod, Rischitelli becomes the first Endicott freshman to earn United Soccer Coaches all-region honors since Caitlin Peters '13 in 2009.

YEAR IN REVIEW

Endicott posted an 11-4-2 overall record and an 8-1 mark in league play en route to a CCC semifinal appearance. The Gulls were 7-2-1 at the Nest, and 4-2-1 in road contests, averaging 2.29 goals/game while allowing just .80 goals/game.
