BEVERLY, Mass. — Eight members of the Endicott field hockey program have received postseason honors from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), as announced by the league office earlier today.
Senior midfielder Sydney Poulin (Watertown, Mass.) headlined the group of Gulls winning Offensive Player of the Year accolades for the first time in her career.
Along with those honors, Poulin, Blake Braman (Clinton, Conn), Claire Boncek (Hamden, Conn.), Meaghan Hogan (Chesire, Conn.), Olivia Lampasona (Watertown, Mass.), Abby Carter (Richmond, Vt.), Rachael Lemay (Westminister, Mass.), and Taylor Farrin (Danvers, Mass.) all collected CCC All-Conference accolades as well.
CCC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR | ALL-CCC FIRST TEAM
Sydney Poulin | Sr. | M | Watertown, Mass.
Poulin put together a career-best goal-scoring season for the Gulls with 15 tallies (second in conference) over the course of 17 games, 10 of which were netted in conference play. Poulin also guided the Gulls to an 11 win season behind a team-high 31 points (second in CCC).
Meanwhile, her play in the midfield helped orchestrate several additional scoring chances for the Gulls who currently lead the conference in goals overall (56) and goals per game overall (3.3, tied). Endicott is second in both categories in conference-only contests.
Poulin is the first midfielder to win CCC Offensive Player of the Year and/or Player of the Year honors since 2000 when Emily Houtz from Gordon College earned the honor. The CCC officially changed the Player of the Year award to Offensive Player of the Year in 2010.
Additionally, Poulin is the first-ever Endicott midfielder to win CCC Offensive Player and/or Player of the Year accolades in program history.
ALL-CCC FIRST TEAM
Blake Braman | Gr. | M | Clinton, Conn.
Braman served as one of the most consistent student-athletes starting all 17 contests for the Gulls. In those games, Braman dished out six assists (sixth in the CCC) including a program-record tying three helpers against Nichols. Braman also found the back of the net three times in her fifth year.
Claire Boncek | Jr. | D | Hamden, Conn.
Boncek dominated on the defensive end for the Gulls all season long, which resulted in Endicott allowing a league-low 25 goals while compiling a league-best 1.47 goals against average (GAA) in the process. Her play defensively also created many scoring opportunities, four of which she netted on her own.
ALL-CCC SECOND TEAM
Meaghan Hogan | Jr. | F | Cheshire, Conn.
Hogan had a career year during her junior campaign, recording seven goals and four assists, ranking fourth and second on the team, respectively. Hogan's 18 points also check in at fourth overall for Endicott.
Olivia Lampasona | Jr. | M | Watertown, Mass.
Much like her counterparts, Lampasona produced a career year behind 12 goals (fourth in conference) and two assists for 26 points (fifth in CCC), all career bests. Lampasona also has tallied three multi-goal games so far this season.
Abby Carter | Sr. | D | Richmond, Vt.
Carter helped orchestrate a dominant defensive unit that recorded eight shutouts on the season. She also notched her lone goal of the season in a 2-0 win over Connecticut College on September 14.
Rachael Lemay | Jr. | D | Westminster, Mass.
Lemay helped hold down the backend for the Gulls as the defensive unit only allowed three total goals in five conference victories. Meanwhile, offensively, Lemay potted her first career goal versus Worcester State on October 14.
Taylor Farrin | Sr. | GK | Danvers, Mass.
Farrin showcased once again why she is one of the top keepers in the conference by posting a 1.38 GAA (18 goals allowed) and 63 saves in 15 starts this season. Farrin currently ranks first overall in the CCC in goals against, GAA, and save percentage. She also is fifth overall in saves.
WHAT'S NEXT
Endicott (11-6, 5-1 CCC) earned the No. 2 seed in the Commonwealth Coast Conference tournament and will host No. 3 Western New England (11-5, 4-2 CCC) in the semifinals on Thursday, November 4 at The Nest.
