WALTHAM, MA - The Endicott women's volleyball team split the opening night of the Judges Classic hosted by Brandeis, beating Gordon, 3-0, and falling to Plymouth State, 3-0 Friday.
The Gulls, who wrapped up the No. 2 seed in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament beginning Tuesday night versus the University of New England (7), beat the Fighting Scots 30-26, 30-26 and 32-30 before losing to the Panthers 30-27, 30-24 and 30-26.
Sara Moore (Guilford, CT/Guilford) led the attack in the first match, collecting 21 kills and two blocks, while Kaylee Krom (Strasburg, CO/Strasburg) added 11 kills, three aces and 11 digs.
Also contributing to the win was Brittany Nolan (Monroe, CT/Masuk), who had three aces and 11 digs and Meghan Hall (Santa Cruz, CA/Aptos), who handed out 37 assists. Killeen Ross (Ballston Lake, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) dug up 19 balls.
Hall led Endicott versus Plymouth State with 41 assists and 16 digs. Krom recorded a team-high 15 kills, Moore had 13 kills and two blocks, and Nolan dug up 22 balls. Krom was also a factor, picking up two aces, 21 digs and 15 kills. Hayley Janelle (Madbury, NH/Oyster River) and Beth Dow (Pocasset, MA/Bourne) each had three blocks in the loss.
The Gulls will take on Newbury (12:00 pm), Eastern Connecticut (3) and Brandeis (5) Saturday in the Judges Classic.
