Gulls Roll Past Clark, Brandeis

BEVERLY, MA -- The freshman class helped Endicott College earn wins over Brandeis (3-0) and Clark (3-1) at McDonald Gymnasium Saturday at Endicott College. The Gulls (5-1) have now won three straight games after falling to MIT last Saturday.

The Gulls started quickly and had four players reach double digits in digs to dispatch Brandeis (30-24, 31-29, 30-25). The hosts came from behind in the middle game and used the momentum to stay perfect the rest of the afternoon.

Endicott wrapped up the weekend sweep upending Clark, 30-32, 30-17, 30-18, 32-30.

Freshman Brittany Nolan (Monroe, CT/Masuk) recorded a combined 36 digs, while sophomore Meghan Hall (Santa Cruz, CA/Aptos) had 71 assists, including 41 versus Clark.

EC's tri-captains were a driving force in the first win. Senior tri-captain Patty Mikan (Shelton, CT/St. Joseph's) pitched in 14 digs and eight kills, senior tri-captain Killeen Ross (Ballston Lake, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) recorded 10 kills and 11 digs and junior tri-captain Sara Moore (Guilford, CT/Guilford) had eight kills.

Nolan contributed 13 digs versus the Judges while Hall quarterbacked the attack, handing out 30 assists to go along with a game-high 15 digs.

Freshmen Kaylee Krom (Strasburg, CO/Strasburg) notched 15 kills versus Clark, while Janelle added 13 kills, hitting .600 in the middle of the court. Nolan had a team-high 23 digs, Krom added 21 and Nolan chipped in 14. Krom, Mikan and Nolan each had three aces for the hosts.

The Judges rebounded in the middle match to beat Clark, 3-0, on freshman Lorraine Wingenback's (Buffalo, NY/City Honors School) 14 kills and nine digs. Fellow freshman Violette Ruggerio (Paradies Valley, AZ/Saguaro) dished out 24 assists and sophomore Shannon Trees (Savannah, GA/St. Vincent's Academy) dug up 10 balls as the Judges (3-4) won 30-19, 30-19, 30-21.

For Clark (3-3) junior Margo Ladadorf (Columbia, CT/Windham) had eight kills and nine digs while Tiffany Ong (San Francisco, CA/Lick Wilmerding) added nine digs and 11 assists.
