WENHAM, MA - Endicott women's volleyball swept its pool to advance to the championship match of the Gordon Invitational Saturday at Gordon College.
The Gulls (2-1) fell in the tourney final, 3-0, to MIT, which improved to 3-0. However, Endicott looked in getting to final, losing just one game in its first two matches versus Albion (3-0) and Wheaton (3-1). Junior tri-captain Sara Moore (Guilford, CT) was named to the All-Tournament Team. Also instrumental to Endicott's success were Killeen Ross (Balston Lake, NY), Meghan Hall (Santa Cruz, CA) and freshman Hayley Janelle (Madbury, NH).
Ross had 11 kills and 13 digs to lead the Gulls past Albion in the season opener. Moore and Janelle each contributed nine kills while Hall dished out 35 assists and three aces. Freshman Brittany Nolan (Monroe, CT) had a team-high 15 digs.
In the second match versus Wheaton, Moore and Ross had 17 and 12 kills, respectively while Ross added a team-high 20 digs. Hall chipped in 41 assists and six aces and Janelle controlled the net with five blocks.
Ross and Moore led the way in the final versus the Engineers, combining for 14 kills. Hall handed out 20 assists and three aces, while Nolan brought up 20 digs.
The Gulls return to action Thursday September 8 when they travel to cross-town rival Salem State.
