Rams Stay Unbeaten, Snap Gulls Winning Streak

CAMBRIDGE, MA - The Suffolk women's tennis team remained unbeaten on the season by posting a 7-2 non-league dual-match triumph over Endicott Thursday evening on the Buckingham, Browne & Nichols Courts.

Rams' Junior Kellie Sturma (Newman, GA), sophomores Kaitlynn Cates (Middlebury, CT) and Catarina Rosa (Fall River, MA) as well as freshman Alex Hernandez (Newton, MA) were all straight set winners in singles play for the home team, now 7-0 overall on the season, as the tandems of Sturma/Cates and Rosa/Hernandez combined for victories at the number one and two doubles spots, respectively. Freshman Rachael Troia (North Providence, RI) collected the other point of the night for Suffolk by notching a straight-set win at number six singles.

Endicott junior Geneive Sherman (York, Maine) was a winner in both singles and doubles action in the setback for the visiting Gulls (9-4, 5-2 TCCC), who saw their four-match winning streak come to an end. Sherman posted a straight-set triumph at number five singles before teaming with Alyson Boehm (Lowell, MA/Lowell) for an 8-5 win at the number three doubles spot for Endicott.

Suffolk hosts Emerson in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference dual-match on Saturday afternoon on the Buckingham, Browne & Nichols Courts beginning at 1:00 PM, while Endicott heads to Weston, Mass. on Saturday morning to take on Regis in a TCCC dual-match that begins at 11:00 AM.
