SPRINGFIELD, MA - Endicott College sophomore Kate Fiske (Westerly, RI/Westerly) was named The Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Week as she remained unbeaten, winning both her singles and doubles matches last week.
The Gulls went 1-1 on the week with a lopsided 8-1 victory over Salem State and a tough 6-3 loss to TCCC foe Roger Williams. Fiske easily won her singles bout 6-1, 6-2 and partnered with Jenna Carme (Greenfield, MA/Greenfield) for an 8-2 victory at second doubles against Salem State.
In the conference opener against Roger Williams, Fiske defeated Leah Ribchinsky (Ivoryton, CT/Valley Regional) 1-6, 6-4, 6-1 for an impressive comeback win. She then paired up with Carme again for a big, 8-5 win. Despite the teams' loss to RWU, Fiske remains unbeaten winning four straight matches at third singles and four straight at second doubles.
The Blue and Green have an overall record of 3-1 and return to action Wednesday when they visit TCCC new comer Western New England College in Springfield. That match is scheduled for a 3:30 pm start.
