Women's Soccer Garners Seventh Straight NSCAA Team Academic Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo.- The Endicott women's soccer team has been awarded the NSCAA College Women's Team Academic Award for the seventh consecutive year as announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) on Thursday morning.

The NSCAA annually recognizes college and high school soccer programs that have excelled in the classroom, in addition to their work on the field. A total of 892 soccer teams (315 men, 577 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the NSCAA College Team Academic Award for the 2015-16 academic year.

Endicott women's soccer Head Coach Jodi Kenyon had this to say about the team's 3.45 Team GPA and the honor:

"The NSCAA Team Academic Award is the highest honor that we can collectively achieve off the playing field. Our student-athletes take great pride in performing to the best of their abilities. I am extremely proud of their efforts on the field, in the classroom and in the community."

Endicott's women's soccer team has earned this distinction nine times (2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016) since the award was instituted in 1996 and placed 15student-athletes on the 2015 Academic All-CCC team.

The program's record over the last seven seasons in which they have received this award is an impressive 95-44-16 overall and 55-13-3 in conference play as the team has also claimed two CCC titles, two NCAA Second Round appearances, four CCC finals appearances and an ECAC DIII New England Championship.

The Gulls finished the 2015 season 9-8-3 record overall that saw the team fall in the CCC semifinals 2-1 in overtime and to Emerson 1-1 on penalty kicks in the ECAC DIII New England tournament. Throughout the run of seven consecutive NSCAA Team Academic Awards, the Gulls have placed 65 student-athletes on the CCC Academic All-Conference teams while seeing four individuals receive CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District teams, with one individual reciving Second Team All-American honors.
