CCC Women's Basketball Preseason Poll Release
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast
Conference (CCC) announced today that the Endicott women’s
basketball has been selected by the league’s head coaches to
finish fourth in the standings according to the 2011-12 CCC
Women’s Basketball Preseason Poll.
University of New England received seven of a possible 10 first
place votes and were chosen to win this year’s conference
championship. Following UNE (97) were defending champions
Salve Regina (88), Roger Williams (82), Endicott (71), Western New
England (59), Curry (48), Nichols (39), Wentworth (35), Gordon (17)
and Eastern Nazarene (14). Salve received two first place
votes and Roger Williams earned one.
First year head coach Brittany Hutchinson takes the helm of a
Gulls squad that went 17-10 last season and appeared in the
conference playoffs for the ninth straight season. The Gulls
will rely on leadership in the backcourt from captains senior
Nicole Heffernan (Londonderry, N.H.) and junior Jen McBrien
(Medfield, Mass.) this season, the growth several second-year
players, and immediate impact from this year’s freshman
class.
The Gulls begin their 2011-12 campaign on the road at the Brandeis
Invitational on Saturday, November 19th at 5:00 pm
against the host Brandeis Judges.
