SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – In the midst of a five game win streak,
Endicott women’s basketball has had forward Samantha Crough
(Cohasset, Mass.) selected as the Commonwealth Coast Conference
(CCC) Player of the Week. Crough has been instrumental in a 3-0
week for the Gulls, and a key part of their impressive stretch in
which they have won eight of their last ten games, six of them in
conference play.
Crough averaged 17.7 points and 6.0 rebounds per game in the
Gull’s three games between January 8-15. After opening the
week with 10 points and eight rebounds in Endicott’s 56-51
victory at Nichols, Crough closed out the week with back-to-back
20-point performances. She posted 20 points and two rebounds
in a 75-46 win over Endicott and added 23 points and eight boards
in a 74-51 victory over Curry. For the week, Crough shot a
solid 55% from the field (24-of-44).
The Gulls rode Crough’s hot hand in the first half against
Wentworth, when the sophomore went 7-10 from the field and 2-3 from
the line to help Endicott jump out to an 11 point lead which they
would not look back from. Against Curry on Saturday, Crough again
started hot, shooting 8-12 (.667) in the first half, including 2-4
from the three-point line as Endicott opened up a convincing 20
point lead at the break.
Crough has now scored in double digits in nine straight games,
including three contests with 20+ points. She scored a season-high
26 points in a 67-49 win over Emerson last December 8th
to begin the double-digit scoring streak.
The 9-5 Gulls (6-1 CCC) will be on the road on Thursday night for
a 5:30 game against the University of New England before returning
home to host Eastern Nazarene on Saturday at 3:00 pm.
