Alex Wasik garners NECC Rookie of the Week honors as Gulls clinch top seed

BEVERLY, Mass. - Freshman middle Alex Wasik (Milford, Mass.) was named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week for his efforts in leading the Gulls to the top seed in the upcoming conference tournament.

Wasik averaged 2.7 kills per set, 1.2 blocks per set, and a .682 hitting percentage in two Endicott victories this week over NECC opponents.  For the week, he totaled 16 kills on 22 attempts with just three errors and made a total of seven assisted blocks.  Wasik also served up three aces against Regis on Thursday. 

In Endicott's 3-0 (25-11, 25-9, 25-11) win over Regis, Wasik struck eight kills without committing an error on 10 attempts for a .800 hitting percentage.  Along with his three aces and three block assists, Wasik also had two digs in the match.  Two days later on the road against Newbury, Wasik added another eight kills at a .417 attack percentage with four block assists.  

For the season, Wasik has a total of 59 kills, a .433 hitting percentage, 36 total blocks, 24 digs, and six service aces.  

Endicott finished their second straight regular season with an undefeated record in conference play.  The Gulls also raised their win total to 20 games for the sixth time in program history.

The Blue and Green will end their regular season with a non-conference match on Tuesday night in Cambridge against MIT before taking on the field at the NECC Tournament as the top seed starting on Friday night at 6:00 pm against #4 Southern Vermont.  All NECC Tournament matches on Friday and Saturday will be played at Endicott's MacDonald Gymnasium.
