Near perfect serve-receive helps Endicott to 3-0 sweep over Southern Vermont

BENNINGTON, Vt. – Junior Aaron Jessee (Okinawa, China) and freshman John Osborne (Freehold, N.J.) were nearly perfect in the back row as Endicott totaled just one reception error in a 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-14) win over NECC opponent Southern Vermont on the road Tuesday night.  Jessee and Osborne combined for a .976 reception percentage as they successfully passed 40-of-41 serve receives from Southern Vermont players.

The Gulls (10-4, 5-0 NECC) and Mountaineers (5-8, 2-2 NECC) will turn around and play each other again on Saturday, March 2nd at 1:00 pm in Endicott's MacDonald Gymnasium.   Endicott is now 11-0 all-time versus Southern Vermont, including a 5-0 mark at home.

Endicott sported their highest attack percentage of the season (.393) against Southern Vermont as the Blue and Green registered 43 kills on 84 total attempts with just 10 errors.  Endicott's middles once again shined as juniors Travis Netherton (Waukegan, Ill.) and Mike Coniglione (Glenville, N.Y.) were the team's kill leaders with 11 and 10, respectively.

Netherton and Coniglione's efforts in the middle set up a trio of productive hitters on the outside in Brennan Lowe (Malibu, Calif.), Josh Anderson (La Canada, Calif.), and Osborne who combined to hit .318.  Lowe finished with eight kills, five digs, and three total blocks with Anderson and Osborne adding six kills each.  Anderson assisted on five blocks at the net while Osborne, along with his strong receiving game, added four digs and an ace.

Freshman setter Tyler Bacon (Cypress, Calif.) broke all-time assist leader Ben Foster's ('10) record for consecutive matches with at least 30 helpers as Bacon totaled 30 against the Mountaineers.  He was a perfect 30-for-30 on set attempts as he set up Endicott's hitters.

Also contributing to the Endicott win was sophomore Stewart Allendorph (Delmar, N.Y.) who used long serving runs to keep the Gulls ahead of Southern Vermont all match.  In just two sets, Allendorph served 11 times and recorded an ace.  Kristian Catalan (Sudbury, Mass.) played well defensively as the sophomore defensive specialist was one of five Gulls with at least four digs.  Jessee led the team with six digs.
