Endicott back in the CCC Semifinals after 5-0 shutout over WNE

BEVERLY, Mass. - The #4 seed Endicott defeated the #5 seed Western New England in the CCC Men's Tennis Quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon to advance into the semifinals where the Gulls will meet the top ranked team in the bracket, Roger Williams, on Wednesday, May 1st in Bristol, Rhode Island.

Endicott (11-7, 5-3 CCC) and Roger Williams (11-6, 8-0 CCC) will begin semifinal action at 2:00 pm on Wednesday.  The Gulls fell to the Hawks 8-1 back on April 2nd with Endicott claiming only a #1 doubles victory for seniors Olivier Joggi (Stoneham, Mass.) and Jake Cohen (Barrington, R.I.) 8-2 over their Roger Williams opposition.

Against the Golden Bears on Saturday, Joggi and Cohen started off doubles play with an 8-1 victory at the top position over Western New England's Chris Holzinger (Foster, R.I.) and Peter Lefrancois (Marlborough, Mass.).  Endicott senior Benjamin Randlett (Middlebury, Vt.) and sophomore Eric Gandrup (Sudbury, Mass.) followed with an 8-3 victory at #2 doubles and the #3 doubles duo of junior Evan Ross (Worcester, Mass.) and freshman Michael Dolph (Stratford, Conn.) edged Peter Nassar (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Shawn Fitzpatrick (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) 8-6 to complete the doubles sweep to give the Gulls a 3-0 advantage.

Needing only two points to take the match by decision, Endicott sophomore Michael Lauretano (Winchester, Mass.) claimed a 6-0, 6-2 win at #6 singles for the fourth point and #4 singles player, sophomore Timothy Forance (Natick, Mass.), won 6-2, 6-3 over Fitzpatrick to take the match. 

Western New England ended their 2013 season with a 7-10 overall record after going 4-4 in CCC matches during the regular season.  They dropped their second straight CCC Quartefinals match to Endicott after falling 5-1 to the Gulls in 2012.
