Endicott moves above .500 after 7-2 win over Salve Regina

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's tennis team defeated league opponent Salve Regina 7-2 on Saturday afternoon and after back-to-back Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) match victories this week, the Gulls are above.500 for the first time spring at 6-5 (2-2 CCC).

The Gulls return to the hard courts on Sunday for a non-conference showdown with Colby-Sawyer starting at 1:00 pm.  Salve Regina (0-9, 0-3 CCC) returns home to face CCC rival Curry on Wednesday, April 10th at 3:30 pm. 

Endicott junior Evan Ross (Worcester, Mass.) and freshman Michael Dolph (Stratford, Conn.) started off the match with a 8-2 win at #2 doubles before the Gulls squeaked by the Seahawks 9-7 in #3 doubles with a hard-fought win for junior Andrew Zurheide (New London, Conn.) and freshman Clay Arnold (Ivoryton, Conn.).

Salve Regina made it 2-1 as their #1 doubles duo of senior Aaron Isch (Tolland, Conn.) and junior Colin Gunning (Norwell, Mass.) battled their Endicott opponents to a 9-8 (7-2) win. 

In singles play, sophomore Timothy Forance (Natick, Mass.) made quick work of his opposition 6-1, 6-0 followed by wins by Dolph at #6 singles 6-4, 6-1 and sophomore Justin Warshavsky (East Hartford, Conn.) at #3 singles 6-0, 6-4.

Seahawks freshman Khoa Nguyen (Haverhill, Mass.) won in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 at the fifth position to garner Salve Regina's final point of the day.

Endicott wrapped up their match with a pair of three set wins by sophomore Michael Lauretano (Winchester, Mass.) at #4 singles and Joggi at the top flighted singles position.
