North Rallies to Win Division III All-Star Game

CORTLAND, N.Y. - St. Lawrence University midfielder Alex Moore (Milford, CT) scored 52 seconds into overtime as the North rallied from a late three-goal deficit to defeat the South, 17-16, in the 2005 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III Men's Lacrosse North-South Senior All-Star Game at the SUNY Cortland Stadium Complex.

SUNY Cortland attackman Adam Hughes (North Syracuse, NY) was named the game's Most Valuable Player after leading the North with three goals and two assists. Hartwick College midfielder Devin Poole (Geneva, NY) added two goals and two assists, Endicott College attackman Burt Fahy (Needham, MA) recorded two goals and one assist and three players - attackman Bobby Magrin (Fairport) of SUNY Brockport, midfielder Devin Clarke (Ridgewood, NJ) of Tufts University and attackman Brian Weil (Amherst, NY)of Ithaca College - scored two goals apiece.

The South squad was led by Washington & Lee University attackman Gavin Molinelli (Northport, NY) and Ohio Wesleyan University attackman John Schlegel (Chevy Chase, MD), who each finished with three goals and one assist. Roanoke College midfielder Dan Reed (Columbus, OH) scored three goals and Cabrini College midfielder James Metelenis (Port Jefferson Station, NY) added two goals.

SUNY Potsdam's Ryan Henretty (Williamsville, NY)started in goal for the North and made seven saves while allowing four goals in 19:45. Amherst College's Cushing Donelan (Darien, CT) stopped six of 11 shots on goal in 20:59 of action. Clarkson University's Joe Zebrowski (Liverpool) played the final 20:08, made five saves and allowed six goals.

Goucher College's Reeves Craig (San Antonio, TX)started in goal for the South. He made six saves and allowed three goals in the first half. Salisbury University's Dan Korpon (Annapolis, MD) played the rest of the way. He stopped 11 shots and gave up 14 goals.

The North did not lead until Moore's game-winning goal. The South led 3-1 after the first quarter and held a 6-3 halftime lead. The teams proceeded to combine for 15 goals in the third quarter - eight by the South. The North closed to within 14-12 early in the fourth quarter, but the South scored two of the next three goals to take a 16-13 lead with 7:07 left. Hughes scored with 4:10 left, then assisted a Poole goal with 3:30 left to draw the North within one. A pair of Ithaca players combined on the game-tying goal with 2:34 left as Weil scored off of midfielder Matt Casey's (Syracuse, NY) third assist of the game. Score by period 1 2 3 4 OT Tot
