Beverly, MA -- Junior Parker Sowles (Cumberland, Maine/Kents Hill) and senior Sam Chidester (Eliot, Maine/Marshwood) combined for six goals and seven assists to lead the Endicott College Gulls to a 15-8 victory over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a non-conference men's lacrosse game Thursday night.
The win improved the Gulls record to 4-1 overall. The game, originally scheduled for Saturday at Gorham, was the first of the season for the Huskies. The Gulls jumped on top in the first quarter taking a 5-2 lead. Each team had three goals in the second period to make it 8-5 at halftime. Endicott increased its lead to 11-6 after three quarters to take firm control.
Sophomore Josh Gilbert (Simsbury, Conn.) added three goals to the Endicott offense. Senior Burt Fahy (Needham, Mass.) and sophomore Dan Ryan (Billerica, Mass.) each contributed a pair of tallies.
For Southern Maine, seniors Matt Butler (Barnstable, Mass.) and Mark St. John (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/South Portland) paced the attack with three goals apiece.
Endicott will travel to Bowdoin College next Monday night (March 28) for a 7:00 start.
