AMHERST, MA - The 13th-ranked Amherst College men's lacrosse team beat the Gulls14-4 in a non conference game Monday, The Gulls are currently 8-3 overall and 4-0 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference.Amherst got out to a quick start from the opening face-off, building a 7-0 first-quarter lead and allowing just six Endicott shots in the first half. Cherney rang up five of his six scores and all three of his assists before the break, including a last-second unassisted tally to give the Jeffs a 12-0 cushion. The Jeff defense, led by junior long-stick midfielder Andrew Wilcox (Ancramdale, NY) and senior defenseman Scott Aldrich (Wilmington, MA), who scooped up seven and five ground balls, respectively, continued its outstanding play after break, but the Gulls finally got on the board with a man-up goal from sophomore Dan Ryan (Billerica, MA) at the 8:44-mark. With Amherst emptying its bench in the final stanza, Endicott mustered a small rally, scoring a trio of goals down the stretch, but the Jeffs' lead was insurmountable as they held on for the win.Senior Alex Casertano (Millbrook, NY) and sophomore Chris Hofmann (New Canaan, CT) each notched two goals and an assist, while rookie Will Ferrer (Greenwich, CT) tallied a pair of scores as well.
