BEVERLY, Mass. – The No. 11/11 nationally ranked Endicott men's ice hockey team defeated Tufts University, 9-2, on Tuesday evening in non-conference action at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.
Josh Bowes (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) highlighted the night for the Gulls as the senior forward registered his 100th career point at the 2:06 mark of the third period when he roofed a backhander over the glove of Tufts' goaltender Josh Sarlo (Lynbrook, N.Y.).
Bowes, who needed two points entering tonight's contest to reach the milestone, is now the second student-athlete in program history to achieve the feat joining Ross Olsson (Billerica, Mass.) in the exclusive club.
Bowes picked up his first point of the matchup with an assist on Olsson's second period tally (00:45) before he reached the milestone in perfect fashion with his 13th goal of the season in the third. Bowes then followed up that marker with another at 2:48 of the period and also dished out an assist on Endicott's next goal to collect four points on the night and put him at 102 for his career.
In addition to Bowes' historic night and Olsson's second period marker, the Gulls received tallies from James Winkler (York, Maine), Jacob Gammelgaard (Esbjerg, Denmark), Michael Heidkamp (Marietta, Ga.), Daniel Kucerovy (Bethel Park, Pa.), Luke Rodgers (Clarkston, Mich.), and Jack Kilty (Medway, Mass.) in the win.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Endicott improved to 2-1-1 against Tufts in the all-time series.
- The Gulls are 6-1-1 at home and undefeated in their last eight games (7-0-1).
- Olsson finished with five points (1g, 4a) to tie the single-game program record.
- His four assists on the night also ranks tied for fourth in a single-game.
- Olsson currently has 122 career points (51g, 71a) to rank first on the all-time list.
- Bowes and Olsson both collected their 100th career point on goals.
- Mark Specia (Ringwood, N.J.) made 32 saves to improve to 4-0-0 on the season.
- He has now made 30 or more saves in three straight games (36 vs. No. 15 Nichols on 11/10/18, 30 vs. Wentworth on 11/30/18).
- Heidkamp registered his first career goal in the first period at 14:16.
- Tonight's game was the 99th game played in Endicott men's ice hockey program history.
