CCC WEEKLY AWARDS RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott men's ice hockey student-athletes Tommy Besinger (Milton, Mass.) and Conor O'Brien (Pinellas Park, Fla.) have earned weekly awards from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC). Besinger was named the CCC Player of the Week, while O'Brien claimed CCC Goaltender and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively.

Last week (12/31-1/6), Besinger led Endicott to a 2-0-1 record with two goals and two assists for four points. Besinger had a goal and assist in a win against Amherst (12/31), a goal in a win against Buffalo State (1/4), and an assist against Norwich (1/5). After tying Norwich 3-3 on Sunday, Besinger also scored the only goal in the shootout of the Northfield Savings Bank Holiday Tournament championship to secure the title. For his efforts in the tournament, Besinger was named the Northfield Savings Bank Most Valuable Player (MVP).

Meanwhile, O'Brien also played a key role in Endicott's 2-0-1 week as the freshman goaltender earned all three decisions against Amherst, Buffalo State, and Norwich. O'Brien's week was highlighted by a career-high 46 save effort against Amherst to open the week. That save total ranks third all-time in saves for a single game in program history. The freshman ended the three-game week with a .932 save percentage, and a 2.59 goals against average.

NOTES

  • Today's award is the first CCC Player of the Week award in Besinger's career.
  • O'Brien has received the CCC Goaltender of the Week award three times this season and the Rookie of the Week award twice.
