Anthony Petrella Signs With Southern Professional Hockey League’s (SPHL) Fayetteville Marksmen

FAYETTEVILLE MARKSMEN RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. – Former Endicott men's ice hockey student-athlete Anthony Petrella (Hilton, N.Y.) has signed a professional contract with the Fayetteville Marksmen of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL).

"Nick, Anthony, and their terrific family have been a huge part of the success our program has had," said Endicott men's ice hockey head coach R.J. Tolan. "I have no doubt that Anthony will make a positive impact with the Fayetteville Marksmen team."

In one season with the Gulls (2017-18), Petrella registered eight goals (two PP) and 14 assists for 22 points in 25 games played. Petrella's play also aided Endicott in ranking No. 2 among all NCAA Division III programs on both the D3hockey.com and USCHO.com polls during the year the 2017-18 year. The Gulls' No. 2 national rankings on both polls is the highest ever in program history.

Petrella is now the third Endicott men's ice hockey student-athlete to sign a professional hockey contract joining Logan Day (Seminole, Fla.) and Jack Musil (Hull, England) on the list. Day is currently a member of the Bakersfield Condors, who are the American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers. Meanwhile, Musil is currently a member of the Glasgow Clan of the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL), the UK's premier ice hockey league.

Prior to Endicott, Petrella played three years of NCAA Division I hockey at UMass Amherst (2014-17). As a member of the UMass Amherst program, Petrella compiled five goals and five assists for 10 points in 77 games played and also earned Hockey East All-Academic Team honors (2016-17) prior to transferring to Endicott for his senior season.
