Logan Day Named Player Of The Year, Four Gulls Claim CCC All-Conference Honors

BEVERLY, Mass. – Four members of the No. 11/11 Endicott men's ice hockey program earned Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) postseason accolades on Thursday afternoon, as announced by the league office earlier today. Junior defenseman Logan Day (Seminole, Fla.) headlined the group with CCC Player of the Year and CCC All-Conference First Team honors.

Joining Day on the CCC All-Conference list were junior forwards Daniel Kucerovy (Bethel Park, Pa.) and Ross Olsson (Billerica, Mass.) and junior goalie Mark Specia (Ringwood, N.J.). All three student-athletes were named to the CCC All-Conference Second Team.

With the announcement of today's CCC All-Conference Team and major award winners, Day became the first student-athlete in program history to earn Player of the Year honors for the Gulls in its three-year existence. Day also claimed the distinction of becoming the first defenseman to receive the honor in the two-year history of the conference.

Day has played in 24 games this season and compiled 15 goals and 20 assists for 35 points. Additionally, Day has five power play tallies, four short-handed goals, and has potted two game-winners. Defensively, Day also leads the team in blocked shots with 32 total.

Meanwhile, among all NCAA Division III student-athletes, Day ranks No. 13 in points per game (15g, 20a, 35p, 1.46 P/GM) among all forwards and defenseman, No. 33 in goals per game (0.62), No. 25 in assists per game (0.83), No. 2 in short-handed goals (4), and No. 1 among all defensemen in the country in points per game.

DANIEL KUCEROVY | ALL-CCC SECOND TEAM

Kucerovy enters this weekend's playoff matchup against Suffolk University (Sat., Feb .17 | home | 3 PM) ranked third on the team in points with 30 total via 18 goals and 12 assists in 25 games played. Kucerovy's 18 goals rank first on the squad and are two shy of tying the program record for a single-season. His 18 goals included four game-winners, three power play tallies, and one game-tying marker.

Nationally, Kucerovy ranks No. 48 in points per game at 1.20, No. 9 in goals per game (0.72), and tied for seventh in game-winning goals with four.

ROSS OLSSON | ALL-CCC SECOND TEAM

In 24 games played this season, Olsson is tied with Day for the team lead in points with 35 total on 16 goals and 19 assists. Seven of Olsson's goals came on the power play, with one of them also serving as a game-winner.

Among all Division III student-athletes, Olsson is No. 13 in points per game (16g, 19a, 35p, 1.46 P/GM), No. 19 in goals per game (0.67), No. 34 in assists per game (0.79), and No. 9 in power play tallies per game (0.29).

Earlier this year, Olsson also became the first student-athlete in program history to reach the 100 career point plateau when he registered a hat trick against then No. 10/10 nationally ranked University of New England in a 4-4 overtime tie on February 10.

MARK SPECIA | ALL-CCC SECOND TEAM

Specia is 10-2-1 on the year with a 2.05 goals against average (GAA) and a .919 save percentage (296 saves total) in 14 games played (13 games started, 761:41 minutes). After a loss to open the season, Specia won his next 10 starts in a row over a span from November 2, 2017 to February 3, 2018. Specia only made one other appearance during that stretch as a backup against then No. 10/11 nationally ranked Salve Regina on January 27, 2018.

Specia has compiled 20 or more saves in seven games this season, posted one shutout – which came in an 8-0 victory over Johnson & Wales on December 9, 2017 – and allowed one goal or less in six games on the 2017-18 campaign.

Nationally, Specia is ranked No. 20 in GAA (2.05), No. 37 in save percentage (.919), and No. 6 in winning percentage (10-2-1, .808).
