Endicott Upends Salem State, 8-2

BEVERLY, Mass. — The No. 4/4 Endicott men's ice hockey team defeated Salem State, 8-2, on Tuesday night at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.

The Gulls exploded with seven unanswered goals through the first and second periods, before the Vikings were able to get on the board in the third.

Anthony Petrella (Hilton, N.Y.) and Jason Kalinowski (Stamford, Conn.) led Endicott with two goals each, while Thomas Daniels (St. Louis, Mo.), Daniel Kucerovy (Bethel Park, Pa.), Jack Kilty (Medway, Mass.), and Jack Musil (Hull, England) each tallied a goal. 

Meanwhile, Justin Ketola (Esko, Minn.) got the start in net and made 19 saves for the Gulls, to improve to 6-0-0 on the season. Kyle Thibodeaux (Glastonbury, Conn.) finished out the game in goal and recorded five saves.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Daniels led the team in assists (3) and points (4).
  • Carter Horwitz (Tustin, Calif.) and Jake Simons (Coral Springs, Fla.) each added two assists throughout the contest.
  • Kucerovy and Ross Olsson (Billerica, Mass.) each had a team-high eight shots.
  • Endicott is 5-1-0 in the all-time series against Salem State.

FOR THE FOES

  • Jason Pucciarelli (Newmarket, Ontario) made 45 saves and shifted to 5-6-0 on the season with the loss.
  • Brody Heleno (Mississauga, Ontario) and Derek Makimaa (Swartz Creek, Mich.) each scored for the Vikings.

WHAT'S NEXT

No. 4/4 Endicott (12-1-0, 10-0-0 CCC) travels to Amherst for a 4:00 PM contest on Sunday, Dec. 31. Salem State (5-6-0, 2-4-0 MASCAC) is on the road at Suffolk on Wednesday, Jan. 3 at 7:00 PM.
