MIDDLETOWN, CT - Hamilton shot over 40 percent from the field and relied on Tim Welchons and Harlee Wood to get past Endicott College, 75-60, Friday night in the first round of the Inn at Middletown Inviational.
The Continentals forced 19 EC turnovers in the first half while shooting close to 50 percent from the field in taking a 21-point halftime cushion. Moreover Welchons dropped in a game-high 17 points and Wood added 15 to keep the Gulls (2-3) at bay. Hamilton remained perfect at 4-0.
Nemanja Marinkovic (Belgrade, Serbia & Montenegro/Second Baptist School) led Endicott with 14 points, followed by Matt George's (Dover, NH/Dover) 13, Mike Sullivan's (Marshfield, MA/Marshfield) 11 and Todd Burton's (Lynn, MA/St. Mary's) 10. George also dished out six assists and had two blocks, while Marinkovic grabbed nine boards and Burton and Sullivan (5 rebounds) each had three steals.
Endicott will face the Mitchell/Wesleyan loser Saturday while the Continentals await the winner of that contest.
