Final Stats

BEVERLY, MA - Senior forward Matt George (Dover, NH/Dover) and junior forward Nemanja Marinkovic (Belgrade, Serbia & Montenegro/Second Baptist School, TX) combined for over half of Endicott College's points as the Gulls survived a late scare by Colby-Sawyer to earn a 58-55 victory Saturday afternoon in a Commonwealth Coast Conference game at MacDonald Gymnasium.

George led all scorers with 21 points to go along with three assists, a block and two steals while Marinkovic added 17 points, a game-high nine boards, two assists and a block for the Gulls, who evened their record at 5-5 and improved to 2-0 in the CCC. Both players were 7-of-14 from the field and George was 6-of-7 from the foul line.

Senior center Andrew St. Clair (Pittsfield, ME/Maine Central Institute) led the Chargers with 18 points, eight rebounds and three blocks while junior guard Pat Kenny (Wethersfield, CT/East Catholic) chipped in 13 points, including three three-pointers, and junior guard Nate Truncellito (Manchester, NH/Manchester Central/NHTI) had 11 points. Colby-Sawyer fell to 4-6 (2-1 CCC) with the loss.

The Chargers got the ball back with 30 seconds remaining down 57-55 but Kenny's three-pointer for the lead was short and Marinkovic collected the rebound. He was fouled and hit one of his two free throws with 17 seconds remaining in regulation. Senior forward James Thorpe (Concord, NH/Concord/NHTI) had Colby-Sawyer's final attempt but his long range shot sailed wide of the rim.

Sophomore forward Gary Corbett (Danbury, CT/Danbury) and senior guard Zach Ellis (Westford, MA/Westford Academy) each contributed six points while junior forward Mike Sullivan (Marshfield, MA/Marshfield) scored five points and had two steals.

The Gulls shot 42 percent in the game, including 36 percent from long range while the Chargers were converting at a 38 percent clip (5-of-20 from three-point land).

Endicott will travel to Salve Regina next Saturday (3:00) while the Chargers battle Middlebury in Vermont Tuesday (7:30).
