Sophomore point guard Todd Burton (Lynn, MA/St. Mary's) netted 13 points to lead Endicott College past the University of New England, 60-42, in Commonwealth Coast Conference action Tuesday night.
The Gulls improved to 3-0 since returning from Christmas break and stand in first place in the CCC North at 4-0 and 7-5 overall as they prepare for a Thursday night showdown in Boston versus second place Wentworth Institute of Technology (7:30).
The Noreasters fell to 4-9 overall and 0-5 in the CCC despite getting 13 points from Matt McManus. However, Endicott shot 51 percent from the field and went on a 14-0 run in the second half to take control of the contest.
Junior forward Nemanja Marinkovic (Belgrade, Serbia & Montenegro/Second Baptist School, TX), who was named to the CCC Player of the Week Honor Roll Monday, added nine points, 11 rebounds, two assists and three steals in the win.
Freshman forward Francis Mayi (Lawrence, MA/Lawrence) was 4-of-4 from the field, scoring nine points with three assists and a steal while freshman guard JM Ramsey (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan Academy) and senior forward Matt George (Dover, NH/Dover) each scored six points.
Ramsey, who was an Honor Roll selection for Rookie of the Week in the CCC Monday, shot 2-of-3 from the field and George also had and assist and a steal while shooting 50 percent from the field.
