BEVERLY, MA - Endicott College did not miss a shot in the first eight minutes as they jumped out to an early lead and did not look back, defeating the University of New England, 63-46, Tuesday night in Commonwealth Coast Conference action.
Endicott won its sixth straight contest to remain in first place in the CCC North Division with a 7-0 record (10-5 overall). The Nor'Easters fell to 6-10 overall and 2-6 in the CCC North Division.
The Gulls shot 54 percent from the floor in the contest and their defense limited UNE to 32 percent shooting and 20 percent from beyond the arc.
Senior guard Zach Ellis (Westford, MA/Westford Academy) and junior forward Mike Sullivan (Marshfield, MA/Marshfield) were the only two Gulls to reach double figures in scoring. Sullivan led the team with 11 points and five rebounds while Ellis dropped in 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting with three assists and a steal.
UNE senior guard Matt McManus (Cumberland, RI/Cumberland) pumped in a game-high 12 points with three helpers and a steal while sophomore forward Isaac Stickney (Rumford, ME/Mountain Valley) added 10 points and seven rebounds, including four offensive boards.
Gulls' senior guard Matt George (Dover, NH/Dover) had nine points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals while sophomore Gary Corbett (Danbury, CT/Danbury) and freshman JM Ramsey (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan Academy) each scored eight points.
Endicott will travel to New England College Thursday night (7:30 PM) and take on non-conference foe Springfield on the road Saturday (3:00 PM).
