KEENE, NH - The Endicott College men's basketball team faced another tough non-conference opponent Tuesday night as the Gulls traveled to Keene State College and were stung with an 83-72 loss to the Owls.
Keene (3-0) opened their season winning the KSC Invitational and continued its home winning streak behind sophomore guard David Sontag's (Mount Vernon, NH/Souhegan) game-high 30 points.
Sontag, who drilled five of his six attempts from three-point land and was 10-of-14 from the field, drained 18 points in the first half as the Owls took a two-point halftime lead. But the hosts went beyond the arc to extend their lead to 15 points midway through the second half and leave EC at 1-2. Endicott's other loss came at Amherst - the No. 5 team in the country.
Once again Nemanja Marinkovic (Belgrade, Serbia/Second School, TX) and Zach Ellis (Westford, MA/Westford) provided the majority of Endicott's offense. The upperclassmen each dropped in 18 points while Matt George (Dover, NH/Dover) finished with 17 points.
