Thornberg, Hunt Named Players of the Week
CCC Athletes of the Week Release

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. –
Endicott College field hockey players Hannah Thornberg (Oakland, Maine) and Robin Hunt (Hampton, N.H.) were both honored as Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) field hockey players of the week, announced by the conference on Tuesday. Thornberg was named CCC Offensive Player of the Week, while Hunt earned Defensive Player of the Week Honors.

In a week that saw the Gulls go 1-1 and earn their first conference victory, Thornberg continued to net goals at an incredible pace. The junior forward opened the week scoring the lone goal in a tough 2-1 road loss at MIT. She then tallied the third marker in Endicott’s 3-1 conference victory at Salve Regina on Saturday. Thornberg leads the team and the conference with 10 goals and ranks in the top 30 in the country in goals per game (1.11).

Hunt, a sophomore defender, was a key part of the Gulls limiting their opponents to three goals this week. Hunt had three defensive saves on Tuesday as the Gulls held in check the powerful attack of MIT. In Newport on Saturday, Hunt played a key role in holding Salve Regina’s offense at bay and also ignited the Endicott attack with offensive transitions.

The Gulls (2-7, 1-1 CCC) will begin a streak of three straight conference games on Thursday afternoon when they host Nichols at 4:00 pm.
