Chandler, ARIZ -- Thirteen members of the Endicott women's field
hockey team were recently named to the Gladiator by SGI National
Field Hockey Coach's Association (NFHCA) National Academic squad,
including senior Courtney
Dronsfield, who was tabbed for the fourth consecutive
year.
Dronsfield, a sport management major from Penfield, N.Y., becomes
the first Endicott field hockey player to be named to four
consecutive National Academic Squads, an honor reserved to
student-athletes who maintain a grade point average of 3.30 or
above.
Joining Dronsfield this year are four Gulls who were also named to
the National Academic team in 2011. Melissa
Enright (York Beach, Maine), Rachel
Socolow (Westford, Mass.), Stacie
Teevens (Westborough, Mass.), and Taylor
Teixeira (Exeter, N.H.) all held GPA's over 3.30 for the
second consective year.
Beth Farr (Rindge, N.H.), Mackenzie
Hurst (Guilford, N.H.), Sarah
Warner (Winthrop, Maine), Monique
Stewart (North Andover, Mass.), Lizetta
Solarik (Carmel, N.Y.), Shannon
Lockwood, Liz LeClair (Wilton, Maine), and Meghan
Leary (Hampton Falls, N.H.) were all selected this year
for their first time on the National Academic Squad.
Endicott was also honored by receiving the Gladiator by SGI NFHCA
National Academic Team Award, presented to all institutions whose
team achieves a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher during the first
semester of the 2011-12 academic year. This is the fifth
consecutive season that Endicott has been the recipient of this
award.
The Gulls finished the season with a 12-9 record and made the
program's first NCAA appearance while capturing the school's first
Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) field hockey title.
