Football Rolls Past Western New England, 45-21

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott football team rolled past Western New England, 45-21, on Saturday afternoon at Hempstead Stadium. 

After an offensive implosion that featured 31 points in the first half, the Gulls tacked on seven additional points in the third and fourth quarters, respectively, to complete the rout.

Team captain John Kenney (Wilmington, Mass.) fueled the offense with 105 yards and three scores.

Meanwhile, Kobe Gaudette (Saco, Maine) also struck twice for the Gulls, finding himself in the end zone on two separate occasions (1st quarter, 02:48, 3rd quarter, 05:54) to help secure the victory.

Sandwiched between the two Gaudette touchdowns were a Connor Ahrens (Simsbury, Conn.) eight-yard score (2nd quarter, 08:48, first career TD) and a Ryan Smith (Glastonbury, Conn.) 26-yard field goal that gave Endicott a commanding 31-14 lead at the half.

BEYOND THE BOX

  • The Gulls evened the all-time series against the Golden Bears (9-9).
  • Endicott scored a season-high 45 points today.
  • Kenney notched his second 100-yard rushing performance and second multi-score game of the season.
  • Gaudette registered the first 100-yard receiving game (109) of his career and his first and second collegiate touchdowns. 
  • Shane Aylward (Tewksbury, Mass.) compiled seven catches today, which marks his third straight game with five or more receptions.
  • Ahrens recorded the longest reception of his career (44 yards) on the first play from scrimmage to set up Kenney's first of three scores.
  • Endicott has forced at least two turnovers in every game this season.
  • James Day (Greenwich, Conn.) plucked his second career pick in the second quarter, while Tyler Davis (Bethel, Conn.) forced his first career fumble in the fourth. 
  • Davis also finished second on the team in tackles with eight (3 solo, 5 assisted, 1 TFL, 2 pass breakups).
  • Tim Russell (Stoneham, Mass.) guided the defense with a team-high 10 stops (2 solo, 8 assisted, 0.5 sacks, 0.5 TFL, 1 pass breakup).
  • The Gulls are a perfect 4-0 at The Nest this season.

Endicott (5-1, 2-0 CCC Football) will travel to Husson (4-1, 1-0 CCC Football) on Saturday, October 16 at 1:00 PM. Western New England (3-3, 1-1 CCC Football) will visit Curry (2-3, 0-2 CC Football) on Saturday, October 16 at 1:00 PM.
