BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott sophomore quarterback Clayton Marengi (Lynnfield, Mass.) has received Commonwealth Coast Football (CCC Football) Offensive Rookie of the Week honors, as announced by the league office earlier today.
Last Friday night against WPI (9/10), Marengi was under center for some key moments in Endicott's 28-21 come-from-behind victory over the Engineers.
In the fourth quarter, Marengi orchestrated a drive that culminated in a 32-yard touchdown pass to tie the game. With Marengi in at quarterback and the run-pass-option threat looming, the Gulls offense was able to put together a game-winning drive.
Overall, the sophomore quarterback went 2-for-5 in passing attempts for 37 yards and added two rushes to gain 47.
Today's announcement marks Marengi's first career CCC Football weekly award.
