BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott sophomores Shane Aylward (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Zachariah Twardosky (Merrimack, N.H.) have earned Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Weekly Awards for the first time in their respective careers, as announced by the league office earlier today.
Aylward was named the CCC Offensive Rookie of the Week, while Twardosky was selected as the league's Defensive Rookie of the Week honoree.
Last Saturday against St. Lawrence (9/4), Aylward reeled in five catches for 47 yards and scored a touchdown (10-yards). He then caught the two-point conversion giving him eight points in the contest.
Aylward's scores tied the contest at 14, setting the stage for the Gulls' defense, which kept the Saints off the board for the rest of the game. Endicott closed out the win 27-14.
Meanwhile, Twardosky played a key role in Endicott's defensive efforts against St. Lawrence by recording recorded five tackles (three solo, two assisted). One of those stops was a strip sack that led to the game's opening score. Twardosky also had a game-high three pass breakups.
