NEFC tabs Dylan Rushe as Special Teams Player of the Week

BEVERLY, Mass. - Senior kicker and punter Dylan Rushe's (Palos Verdes, Calif.) 15-point performance in a 33-7 Endicott football victory over Coast Guard on Saturday helped the Gulls win their fourth straight game to remain unbeaten in league play.  For his efforts, the NEFC named him Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Rushe split the uprights on 4-of-5 field goal attempts, made all three extra-points, and punted twice for an average of 34.0 yards with one landing inside the opponent 20-yard-line.  His 15-point was the second-highest of the season to his 19-point game back in week two.

Endicott senior linebacker Andrew Holfinger (Sterling, Mass.) and sophomore running back Spencer Walsh (Malden, Mass.) were also recognized on the NEFC's Honor Roll for their efforts in improving the team's record to 5-2 (4-0 NEFC).  Holfinger recorded an interception with five tackles, 1.5 going for a loss of yardage.  Walsh ran for 157 yards and two touchdowns, his fourth straight game with two scores.

Rushe converted field goals of 32, 54, 32, and 28 yards while missing a 43-yard attempt in the waning moments of the first half.  His 32-yard make accounted for Endicott's first points of the day as the Gulls capped off a 10-play, 68-yard drive to cut into Coast Guard's early 7-0 lead in the first quarter.

After Drew Frenette (New Bedford, Mass.) gave Endicott a 10-7 lead with his lone touchdown pass of the game, a 35-yard pass to Alec Matys (Woburn, Mass.), Rushe extended the lead to 13-7 with a 54-yard bomb through the uprights.  The 54-yarder was one yard short of tying his career-high set back on October 1st, 2011 in a blowout win at Curry.

On the season, Rushe is 11-of-12 (.917) on field goal attempts and 28-of-31 (.903) on extra-points with a team-high 61 points.  He ranks first in the NEFC among placekickers in scoring and second behind Western New England's Kevin Cook (72) in total points.

Rushe and the rest of the Endicott football team continues their run through the regular season with a road game at MIT on Saturday, November 2nd at 5:00 pm.
