Endicott releases 2013 Gulls Football schedule

2013 Endicott Football Schedule

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott Football program has released its 2013 fall schedule which opens at home on September 7th against defending New England Football Conference (NEFC) Champions Framingham State and will feature a stringent lineup of league and non-league opponents.

The Gulls, champions of the NEFC in 2010 and winners of back-to-back ECAC North Atlantic Bowl titles, will be competing in the first season of a newly restructured NEFC that also includes Coast Guard, Curry, Maine Maritime, MIT, Nichols, Salve Regina, and Western New England.  The NEFC retains its automatic qualifying bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament and will award the tournament berth to the league's regular season champion.  Over the past three seasons, the Blue and Green have accumulated an overall record of 28-6 which includes an 18-3 mark in conference games.

"We are excited to once again fill our schedule with a competitive non-conference start to the season, renewing rivalries with some of the old NEFC Bogan Division opponents, and battling league opponents that have proven to be some of the top teams in the region," said Endicott football head coach JB Wells.  "The Framingham State game has become one of the best rivalry games in New England, we are taking on Kean from one of the strongest Division III conferences in the east, and the Coast Guard game will be a flashback to Endicott's first-ever win when we were a junior varsity squad, 12-6 at Coast Guard in 2002."

In each of the past five seasons, Endicott and Framingham State have faced off in the season opener with the Gulls owning a 4-1 record over the Rams.  Endicott has won four straight over Framingham State including last season's 34-7 road victory.  Endicott is 7-1 all-time versus Framingham State with their only loss coming back in 2008, a 25-20 defeat in Framingham.  The Rams are coming off a 10-2 championship season that ended with a narrow defeat to Cortland State in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Blue and Green will face off against Eastern College Football Conference (ECFC) member Castleton State in a week two away game.  The Gulls and Spartans met for the first time in their program's history back on September 15th, 2012 with Endicott laying down a team-record 66 points.

On September 21st, 2013, Endicott will host a new opponent in Kean University, members of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) which also includes NCAA Tournament qualifiers Cortland State and Rowan.  Kean went 5-4 (5-2 NJAC), but are just one season removed from a NJAC title and Second Round appearance in the national tournament.

Endicott's NEFC schedule opener will be in week four at seven-time NEFC Champions Curry on Friday, September 27th.  After a seven-year losing skid to the Colonels, Endicott has had Curry's number with three straight victories including last year's 33-28 Homecoming Weekend win at Endicott Stadium.

Apart from a bye in week seven, the game against Curry kick starts a seven-game league schedule.  The Gulls host Maine Maritime on October 5th on Homecoming Saturday in week five followed by a road game against Nichols in week six, October 12th

Endicott hosts three of their final four games of the season after the bye.  Week eight is at home against Coast Guard on October 26th.  Then an away game at MIT on November 2nd precludes critical NEFC games against Western New England, week 10 on November 9th, and Salve Regina, week 11 on November 16th.  Two of Endicott's three regular season league losses over the past three years have come against the Golden Bears and Seahawks.

All of Endicott's home games are open to the public and available to fans at home via our live statistics and video links.
