BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Following a 9-2 season in 2012 and a third straight conference championship winning year, two ECAC North Atlantic Bowl wins (2011, 2012) and a NEFC Championship in 2010, the Endicott Football team has been selected by the head coaches of the NEFC to finish first in 2013.
Five of the eight head coaches of newly organized NEFC gave the Gulls a first place vote as Endicott earned 59 of a possible 64 points. Endicott finished six points ahead of last year's NEFC Boyd Division champion Salve Regina (53) who received three first place votes. Curry (43), Western New England (43), and MIT (34), who received the final first place vote, rounded out the top five.
The NEFC will have a new look this fall, ditching the two-division set up that had been in place since the 1997 season, as members of the Bogan Division from MASCAC departed to create their own league. Former Bogan Division members Coast Guard (28) and Maine Maritime (14) remained in the NEFC. Nichols (14) tied with Maine Maritime at the bottom of the preseason poll.
Endicott continues their preseason and will prepare for their week one opponent, Framingham State. The Gulls kick off their NEFC schedule, as do other members of the league, on September 26th with a road game against Curry at Walter M. Katz Field.
Each team with the exception of Maine Maritime will begin the season the weekend of September 6. Conference play begins for all teams the weekend of on September 26.
