Andrew Holfinger Takes NEFC Defensive Player of the Week Honors

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott senior outside linebacker and captain Andrew Holfinger (Sterling, Mass.) was named New England Football Conference (NEFC) Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in this weekend's 24-17 Gulls loss to Kean.  This is Holfinger's first NEFC Defensive Player of the Week award of his career.

Holfinger and his teammates on the defensive side of the ball were on the field for over 40 minutes against the Cougars and held the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) member to just 17 points on offense.  Kean's other seven points were earned on an interception return for a touchdown.  As a unit, the Gulls defense kept Kean to an average of 4.1 yards per play, forced six punts, recorded two interceptions and two turnovers on downs, and blocked a punt and extra point bid.

Holfinger had a season-high 11 tackles, one short of his career-high, with four tackles for a loss of 15 yards including 1.5 sacks.  He also batted down a pass attempt at the line of scrimmage for a break up.

Endicott will be back in action on Friday, September 27th at 7:00 pm at Curry for their NEFC opener.
