CCC TOURNAMENT: Gulls To Begin Postseason Play Against Gordon On Thursday (3 PM)

CCC TOURNAMENT INTERACTIVE BRACKET

BEVERLY, Mass. — The third-seeded Endicott baseball team will host sixth-seeded Gordon in the opening round of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament on Thursday, May 2 at 3 PM. Here's a preview of the contest.

THE MATCHUP

Endicott swept the regular season series against Gordon by scores of 13-2 (7 inn.) and 7-6. The Gulls also hold a 36-11 advantage over the Fighting Scots in the all-time series.

HOW THEY GOT HERE

Endicott earned the No. 3 seed behind a 9-5 conference record, while Gordon went 4-10 in league play to edge out Curry (3-10-1) and Wentworth (3-11) for the final spot in the CCC Tournament.

Conference wins for the Gulls, other than their victories over Gordon, included sweeps of Nichols (11-8, 8-0), Wentworth (14-4, 8-3), and Salve Regina (6-0, 10-2), and a split with Curry (5-0).

SCOUTING ENDICOTT

In conference-only games this season, the Gulls rank well in the following categories: batting average (4th, .295), on-base percentage (2nd, .397), slugging percentage (4th, .388), runs scored (2nd, 93), hits (4th, 231), doubles (4th, 23), triples (t-3rd, 5), home runs (8th, 3), RBI (2nd, 84), walks (2nd, 55), and stolen bases (t-1st, 31).

Pitching-wise, Endicott is second in earned run average (3.41), tied fifth in walks (48), and second in strikeouts (107) and strikeouts per nine innings (8.30).

SCOUTING GORDON

Offensively, the Fighting Scots are situated the following way in league-only contests: batting average (7th, .230), on-base percentage (7th, .311), slugging percentage (7th, .294), runs scored (7th, 50), hits (7th, 97), doubles (8th, 11), triples (t-5th, 2), home runs (7th, 4), RBI (6th, 46), walks (8th, 33), stolen bases (3rd, 24).

Gordon's pitching ranks include: ERA (8th, 5.72), walks (1st, 34), strikeouts (8th, 65), strikeouts per nine innings (8th, 5.16).

Individually, the Fighting Scots had two student-athletes named to the CCC All-Conference list this season. (ALL-CONFERENCE STORY)

WHAT'S AT STAKE 

The winner of Thursday's matchup will play first-seeded Western New England on Friday, May 3 at a time to be determined later. Meanwhile, the loser between Endicott and Gordon will play the loser of No. 5 Nichols / No. 4 Salve Regina on Friday, May 3 at the higher seed, also a time at a time to be determined later.
